LIV O'DONOGHUE
ACTOR/writer
Liv O'Donoghue is an Irish-Norwegian actor and writer based in Dublin. Over the past 15 years, she has worked predominantly as a performer for the stage, touring throughout Europe, the USA, China and Australia.
For theatre, Liv is currently working on Pool (No Water) written by Mark Ravenhill and directed by Des Kennedy for the Everyman/Cork Midsummer Festival.
In 2023, Liv was nominated as Best Supporting Actress in The Irish Times Theatre Awards for her role in Good Sex, directed by Ben Kidd and written by Emilie Pine for Dead Centre Theatre. The show premiered at the Dublin Theatre Festival in October 2022 and has since toured to the Powerhouse Arts Festival, NYC, Noorderzon Festival (Holland) the International Sommerfestival (Hamburg) and Cork Midsummer Festival. Liv has been a core collaborator with Dead Centre since originating the role of Josephine in Lippy in 2013, which has continued to tour internationally since. To date they have collaborated on five shows together.
Other notable theatre work includes STARJAZZER, a short story by Seán O'Casey, adapted by Louise Lowe for ANU at the 2024 Dublin Theatre Festival, and playing the role of Gloria in The Patient Gloria, a two-hander written by Gina Moxley and directed by John McIlduff. The production has toured since its premiere in 2019, with particular success at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019, where it was awarded both a Fringe First and a Herald Angel, as well as at St Ann's Warehouse in NYC, where the show was selected as New York Times Critic's Pick, playing to packed houses and receiving rave reviews.
For TV, Liv most recently played the lead in SHUSH, a film she wrote and developed with director Jane Moriarty, produced by Charmer Pictures for RTÉ. Liv's work as a writer on the project was acknowledged with a Writer's Guild of Ireland Zebbie nomination for Best TV Drama in 2025. The film is available to watch here on the RTÉ Player.
