Just back from a lovely and very interesting trip Oslo, visiting family and friends as well as trying to find out more about the dance scene there. My big brother not only put me up for five days, but also got his hands on tickets for a sold out performance of Netherlands Dance Theatre who performed at the stunning Oslo Opera House. It was a great show and I especially enjoyed Alexander Ekman's 'Cacti', beautifully performed by the cast.
It was also my first visit to Oslo since the bombing, and while daily life didn't seem different at all, it was truly tragic to see the bombed out buildings, with huge parts of the city still cordoned off.
Oslo's bi-annual contemporary dance festival, CODA, begins next week. They've programmed lots of great shows so if you have the chance, do go see something! Unfortunately, I'll miss it all as we'll be away on our national tour with Rex Levitates.... Back in the studio tomorrow to brush up those old steps!
