Spent a great week rehearsing for a new work by choreographer Kyle Abraham for Irish Modern Dance Theatre. Kyle is a Bessie Award-winning choreographer based in New York and has been in dialogue with IMDT's John Scott over the past few years, their ideas finally coming to fruition with a week of movement research at DanceHouse in Dublin this week. My body certainly ached in trying to get to grips with Kyle's choreographic style, in a typical cross-Atlantic exchange, but it was a fantastically refreshing and exciting week of work. Looking forward to the next phase of this project which may take us to New York to rehearse with Kyle and his dancers there.
The piece isn't due to premiere until 2013.. can't wait!
