Last week, I spent 8 days working in Italy on a project called Act Your Age, researching ideas of 'age' in the context of performance. This is a two year project led by a partnership of Holland, Italy and Cyprus, and I was invited to get involved alongside choreographers Arthur Rosenfeld (NL), Chiara Frigo (IT) and Alexis Vassiliou (CY). The research was led by our mentor, the lovely Liz King (UK/AT) and we were joined by some other professional dancers, as well as local non-dancers. It was an incredibly inspiring and enriching week, and a great opportunity to get to work with some really interesting artists. Of course, it was also nice to bond over a variety of pasta, pizza and plenty of gelato... !
I'll also have the opportunity to join the the next stage of research in Cyprus in September which will be led by the prolific Wendy Houstoun. If the first stage of research was anything to go by, I'm sure it's going to be wonderful.
