Earlier in the year, I was awarded a mobility grant by E-Motional Bodies and Cities to attend the Open House Festival in Lemosos, Cyprus. By absolute coincidence, Dance House Lemesos also happened to be hosting the second week of research for Act Your Age, which I had already been involved in back in Italy in July. So, I had the brilliant opportunity to become part of it again, this time under the mentorship of Wendy Houstoun alongside new artists, Mor Shani (NL), Marco D'Agostin (IT) and Evie Demetriou (CY). As well as daily workshops with Wendy, we also had various discussions and seminars dealing with ideas of age, society, art, life and death.
Meanwhile, as part of the Open House Festival, we also had the opportunity to see the infamous 'Co(te)lette' by Ann van de Broek, and Nigel Charnock's final work 'Haunted by the Future', performed by Talia Paz and Mike Winters. Unfortnately I had to return home to rehearsals in Dublin before I had the chance to see Wendy Houstoun's '50 Acts', though I've no doubt there;ll be plenty of opportunties to catch it again. On the whole, it was a gorgeous week of sunshine, sharing of new ideas, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones too. Thanks to Dance Ireland, Dublin Dance Festival and Dance HOuse Lemesos for facilitating the trip!
